2007 Keystone Raptor 3600RL

I have a F250 Powerstroke with a factory installed brake controller. On my way back from a weekend trip I lost my trailer brakes, the controller message stated "Trailer Disconnected". Based on the manual and the type of message the problem exists with the trailer. I have all my lights, just no brakes. What could be the problem?
